  • Closing Date of Part I Registration: – 12th February 2014
  • Closing Date of Part II Registration: – 14th February 2014
  • Tentative Date of Tier I Examination: – 27th April and 04th May 2014

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is going to hold Combined Graduate Level Examination 2014 (CGL) for recruitment on various posts. For this Online or Offline applications are invited from suitable candidates.

Name of Examination: – Combined Graduate Level Examination 2011 (CGL)

Application Fee: – Rs. 100/- only. Fee exempted for women / SC / ST / PH / EXs candidates.

Mode of payment: – By Central Recruitment Fee Stamps (CRFS) for Off-line applications and by SBI Challan for or online account with SBI Challan for On-line applications.

How to apply: - 

  • For On-line applications: - Candidates can apply On-line application. Firstly, candidates go to its website then opened prescribed application format. Candidates filled up application format carefully  and upload scanned photo and signature then submit it.
  • For Off line applications: - fill up the prescribed format of application carefully and send it to the appropriate address.

Selection Proedure: - Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will conduct three stage examination for final selection. The first two stage examination will be written objective type examination and third stage will be Computer Proficiency or Skill test or Interview. Asking question in tier I examination as General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Numerical Aptitude, English Comprehension for 200 marks. Each part has 50 marks for 50 questions. Those candidates qualify tier I examination who will be eligible for  tier II examination.  Asking question in tier II examination as Arithmetical Abilities for 200 marks (100 questions) and English Language and Comprehension for 200 marks  (200 questions).  Those candidates qualify tier II examination who will be eligible for final test then candidates will be selected for the post.

Syllabus OF Tier I Examination of Combined Graduate Level Examination 2014: -

This examination consists of 4 subjects: General Intelligence and reasoning, both will have 50 marks.



These papers have both types of questions – Nonverbal and Verbal. Questions related these papers would belong to similarity and difference, analogies, spatial orientation, visualization, problem solving, analysis, visual memory, decision making, judgment, connection concept, discrimination, figural classification and arithmetical reasoning, observation, non verbal series and arithmetic number series, decoding and coding, the statement concluded and syllogistic reasoning etc. The topic under these subjects will be Figure related Analogy,  Semantic Analogy, Number /Symbolic Analogy, Semantic Classification, Number/Symbolic Classification, Figural categorization, Semantic Series, Figure related Series, Number Series,

Word structure, Problem Solving, Numerical Operations, Symbolic Operations, Coding & de-coding, Space Orientation,  Trends, Space Visualization, Drawing inferences, Venn Diagrams, Figural Pattern, Punched hole/pattern –folding and un-folding,– folding and completion, Indexing, Address matching,


Concerned with this part of the examination such questions are asked from which knowledge of general awareness of the candidate is tested. This subject examines the sensitivity of an examinee regarding to the surroundings. In this paper questions are asked from the subjects related to culture, history, geography, Scientific Research, economy and general’s polity of India and its neighboring country.


In this paper the questions are intended to test the ability of proper use of numbers and intelligence of the candidate.  The range of the test will be calculated of, decimals, whole numbers, fractions , Percentage and relationships between numbers, Square roots, Averages, Ratio and Proportion. Profit and Loss, Interest, Partnership Business, Discount, Mixture and Allegation, Time and distance, Time and Work, Elementary surd and Basic algebraic identities of School Algebra Graphs of Linear Equations, Triangle and its various kinds of centers, Circle and its chords, Congruence and similarity of triangles, tangents, common tangents to two or more circles, angles subtended by chords of a circle, Triangle, Circle, Right Prism, Quadrilaterals, Regular Polygons, Right Right Circular Cylinder, Circular Cone, Hemispheres, Sphere, Rectangular Parallelepiped, Regular Right Pyramid with triangular or square base, Degree and Radian Measures, Trigonometric ratio, Standard Identities, Complementary angles, Heights and Distances, Histogram, Bar diagram, Frequency polygon and Pie char.


In this part of question paper questions are related to comprehension. A passage of sort story or article is given and questions concerned with these questions are asked. By these questions basically knowledge of English is examined.
